When it comes to ladder safety, there is never a good time to get lazy. You always need to know what you should and shouldn’t be doing, as to avoid a serious accident that can lead to injury or even death.

Here are seven ladder safety tips to keep in mind at all times:

  • Never use a ladder unless you first inspect it for damage and defects
  • Make sure the ladder is working as intended before taking the first step
  • When setting a ladder, you should search for firm and level ground
  • Don’t use a ladder that is too long or too short for the job
  • When climbing a ladder, you must always maintain three points of contact
  • Never carry a heavy load up a ladder, as this could cause you to lose your balance
  • Don’t set a ladder near a door or other high traffic area

It’s easy to believe that you’re following these ladder safety tips, but it’s possible that you could get lazy at some point. Remember, it only takes one mistake when using a ladder to result in a fall.

If you are part of a ladder accident, regardless of the cause, you can’t hesitate to receive medical treatment. You’ll want to deal with all your injuries in a timely manner, as to avoid additional harm.

Once you receive treatment, focus on your rights to receive workers’ compensation benefits. The money you receive can help you feel better about your recovery, as it will remove a lot of financial stress from your life – and that’s exactly what you need.
