Young child killed in shoe store accident

According to recent reports, a 2-year-old girl was killed in an accident at a Payless ShoeSource store in Riverdale, Georgia.

While trying on shoes with her mother, a mirror came loose from the wall and fell on top of the child. Two people immediately lifted the mirror off the girl, who was struck in the back of the head and stuck underneath.

Upon arriving, paramedics found the girl in traumatic arrest, which occurs when the heart stops beating as the result of a traumatic event. While she was immediately rushed to a local hospital, the girl later passed on.

At this time, there are many questions about what went wrong, such as how the mirror came loose from the wall. A woman working in the next store added the following:

"I could hear the crash and the mom screaming. Everybody was crowded around the door. I'm sure the mom didn't think when she was coming in to go shopping she wouldn't come out with her child. That's bad. Really bad."

According to the girl's cousin, who was not present at the time of the accident, the mirror was only held to the wall with a single screw.

The store is still is in the process of investigating what went wrong, while the girl's family is doing their best to pick up the pieces and move on with their life.

While these types of accidents should never happen, they continue to come to light. Unfortunately, there are times when an accident like this results in serious injury or even death.
