Do you ever find yourself sitting in rush hour traffic? Have you ever witnessed an accident while doing so?
As you know, rush hour traffic has a way of making people do funny things. In some cases, a driver will make a mistake that causes an accident. As a result, more than one person can be seriously injured or even killed.
You need to take extra caution when driving in rush hour traffic, which can include the following:
- Remain patient even if you are in a hurry to reach your destination (leave yourself extra time)
- Avoid distractions, no matter how tempted you may be to use these as a way of passing time
- Stay in your lane of travel, as opposed to jumping back and forth to make time
- Keep an eye on the people around you
Even if you’re doing all the right things, you shouldn’t assume that those around you are being as cautious. For example, another driver could be texting or checking his or her email instead of watching the traffic in front of him or her.
If you are part of a rush hour traffic accident, move your car to safety and wait for help to arrive. You may need to call 911 to ensure that an ambulance and police arrive in a timely manner.
It doesn’t matter if you or a loved one was part of a rush hour traffic accident, you should learn more about your legal rights. Depending on the circumstances, you may be able to take legal action with the idea of holding the negligent party responsible.
