Floor conditions that can cause an indoor slip-and-fall accident

With so much going on around you, it's difficult to watch every step you take. This doesn't mean you are lazy, but it could lead to a slip-and-fall accident. Even if you're careful of what you are doing, you could still suffer this type of fall.

Floor conditions are often the culprit of an indoor slip-and-fall accident, with this including but not limited to:

  • Failure to provide warning, such as the use of a sign, that the floor is wet or damp.
  • Failure to provide a barrier to keep people away from wet floors or some other type of danger.
  • Using too much polish or wax.
  • Applying polish or wax in an uneven manner.
  • Applying any type of floor treatment to a sloped part of the floor.
  • Neglecting to use a non-skid floor treatment when necessary (such as in the entryway of a building).

These types of things can lead to an accident that causes serious injury. Worse yet, you may not know what caused your fall you until you have time to learn more about the accident.

If you are involved in an indoor slip-and-fall accident, you should remain where you are until help arrives. Even if you're able to bring yourself to an upright position, don't leave the scene unless you are completely sure that you are unharmed.

Once you receive treatment and learn more about your injuries, you can turn your attention to your legal rights. You may be able to hold somebody responsible for your injuries and other damages.
