Lawsuit claims man died after falling into a deep fryer

According to a recently filed wrongful death lawsuit, a woman claims that a Publix grocery store is responsible for her husband's 2015 death.

The man worked as a vent hood technician, with one of his responsibilities being to clean vent hoods. When doing so on June 25, 2015, the man fell into a deep fryer, this leading to his death.

The lawsuit notes that the vents in the grocery store were located above a deep fryer. Due to the fact that the fryer was covered with a piece of thin metal, the man was unaware of the hazard.

At the time of the accident, the man was standing with one leg on the cover, acting as support while cleaning the vent. Without notice, the cover collapsed and his leg slipped into the fryer. At that time, he was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for the treatment of severe burns.

After approximately one week in the hospital, he passed away at the age of 37. The lawsuit claims that his death was the result of the burns.

The woman is suing the grocery store for the full value of her husband's life, along with court costs and attorney fees.

Even in a career field in which there isn't much risk, there is always a chance that an accident could occur. If this happens, the injured party and/or his or her family need to better understand what happened and the steps they can take. An attorney can help you learn more about seeking compensation for a loved one's injuries or death.
