Young boy dies in Atlanta restaurant accident

The Sun Dial restaurant in Atlanta is known for offering 360 degree views of the city. For more than 40 years, it has sat atop the Westin Peachtree Plaza, attracting both locals and out of town guests.

Unfortunately, earlier this month, a 5-year-old boy was killed when he was caught between a table and a wall in the dining area. Although the rotating floor shut off when the boy became stuck, he was not able to survive his injuries.

A local police officer had this to say about the accident:

"The Westin's security staff and employees were able to dislodge the child. However, the child sustained critical injuries and later died at the hospital."

Police and paramedics arrived on the scene to treat the injured boy and learn more about the accident, however, this was not enough to save his life. At this time, the restaurant is working with authorities to get a better idea of how and why the accident occurred.

This is not the first time the Sun Dial restaurant has found itself in the news for all the wrong reasons. Last year, a worker died after being locked in a freezer. Along with this, 2016 also saw a young boy drown in the hotel's swimming pool.

When a family visits a restaurant, the last thing they expect is to face this type of tragedy. However, nobody knows when something like this will happen.

In the event of a serious injury or fatality, such as this one, it's important for the victim and/or their family to learn more about their legal rights.
